album full of filler/lame drum& bass mixtures... he chose the right name for the album. I find it hard to believe that Danger Mouse is attached to this.

well yea, dude give it a bit jeeze!
it does have a soft dark blues'ish feel to it.. I like it ok, so far havent listened too close... the show at the Melkweg last night was the same. The most downbeat Beck show I've been to (out of like 6 or so) I rather liked it, but I felt bad for some of my mates who hadn't ever seen him before, because it was not your typical Beck show. Normally it's much more rocking and interactive, but he didnt say one fucking word until the end of the night to thank everybody for coming. The best way I can describe it is to again say it was a somewhat mellow and bluesy rock show. But I dug it alot... worked well with the hash, which I have feeling Beck was feeling too. He wore sunglasses most of the set. also last night was the last evening before the new anti-smoking ban takes place today.... yep no more smoking indoors!??!?! So long, thanks for the memories Amsterdam.... first mushies on the way out, then clamping down on smoking.... it probably wont be long till they get back around to the sex debates either...

just tobacco, but that means no Tobacco in Weed, which is how the majority of Europeans smoke it.
only pure joints, and only in coffee shops... for now. as an American, that aint no thang to me, but as I've learned almost all europeans smoke a weed/tobacco mix. Several of my dutch friend aren't digging it because they dont like pure joints.....not that locals spend much time in coffee shops anyway... but still... |

i preview everything.
i even bought both of becks previous releases after i previewed them and didn't particularly care for them all that much (i've purchased his whole catalogue btw). i'm not so sure i'll be buying this one.... maybe buying music blind is retarded. unless you don't care, of course.

On first spin I'm liking this very much. Digging the subtle mod sixties vibe. Feels much more like a cohesive album than the last few. Some great lyrics

I won't be commenting on this until i've given it a few days to sink in. My favorite albums seem to creep up on me after a half-dozen or so listens... does anyone else think this album is boring as fuck? I'm only 3 tracks in on the first listen through, but this is exactly what I don't want to hear
from Beck. I want another Beercan, Soul Sucking Jerk, Loser type Beck album. Maybe I need to get over the fact that Beck will never drop another Mellow
Gold, but I will not be purchasing this shit.
