What about Keri maaaaaaan? Slayer solos would be what they are without Keri's whammy techniques. Or was it Jeff?

any discussion of whammy bars that does not feature Jeff Beck is crap.

Steve Vai's showdown with Eugene at the end of Crossroads must be noted for both its string bending and whammy bar action.
Start at 3:50 for the best example, though the entire clip is required viewing, Vai wise. Yes I know that he played for Zappa and kicked ass then but this is what I thought of, reliving being 11 years old. |

nah dude I'm in norcal these days.....in the middle of red neck/gang banger/meth head alley sandwiched btwx the gay area and lake tahoe for the time being. FUCK! I could use a fucking party too dammit. It just ain't the rock-n-roll lifestyle I know and love these days maaaan, I don't know what I was thinking not going to work anymore....heh heh It all started when I was drinkin' down at the sand one sunday, and a cop saw me trip and fall over and hauled me downtown for the night.....I got out at 8:00 monday morning, stumbled past my office on Broadway on the way to catch a cab home, and never looked back heh. hoist a couple for me though brah, and give my best wishes to the drummer mang and wife!!!

I love the way Neil uses the whammy bar.
everybody else uses it with great care and skill. he just kind of hauls on it and wrenches the tone out with his heart. |
