My hardcore Batman friend said the movie was awesome, but definitely would have benefitted from about a 30-minute edit. I'll be seeing it in about 2 weeks

My hardcore Batman friend said the movie was awesome, but definitely would have benefitted from about a 30-minute edit.yeah i agree i thought it was really good but needed about a 30 minute edit too. it kinda dragged in a few spots but overall the special affects were amazing i too had a bit of a problem with batman's voice, which is weird because i don't remember noticing at all in the last one. and i agree ledger is amazing. I really never thought i would like anyone in the joker role after jack nicholson, but the first batman wasn't as dark and was more comic booky than this one so the performances were really different. Nicholson's joker was very made up and meticulous in his appearance, while ledger's was very crazed and haphazard. I will say I though ledger's joker was a bit more comical than nicholson's but that could just be because i haven't seen it in awhile, because i know i loved him in it. I know that i laughed at least a few times at ledger's joker. also i feel like they took awhile to really get into the good stuff, like i remember thinking about 45 mins in, where's all the cool stuff? but when they did the entire crowd went crazy, it was some good stuff. |

it was long, but i never really got bored. once it got going, it didn't really stop. They could have trimmed the fat in a few places, but for the most part
it's not like pirates of the carribean where it seemed like it was long just to be long.
i loved it. heath ledger was amazing. i hope this breaks all kinds of records and they make another one. |

it was really good, but i still liked batman begins and iron man more. there was a lack of gadgets in this one, but the joker shtick made up for that. i'm
glad Katie Holmes left too. the T4 and watchmen previews were rad.

Fucking brutal. It bears repeating: the MPAA is a joke. Any movie can get away with a PG-13 as long as the budget is 150 mil or more.
Anyway- amazing movie... probably the best comic book movie ever... but it's so grim I don't know if it will have the same rewatchability as Batman Begins. And yes, Ledger's Joker was perfect. Nicholson was basically playing the Nicholson caricature he's played in The Shining, Witches of Eastwick, Wolf, and a ton of other movies. Any predictions on the villain(s) for the next movie? Catwoman seems like a logical character to bring in. I've thought for awhile Christopher Eccleston would make a great introverted evil genius Riddler. They've said they want to keep these films "realistic" to some degree, so that pretty much rules out the more outlandish villains- Mr. Freeze, Man-Bat, Bane, etc... |
