Never been there but I always heard these sandwiches are pretty good.
http://www.michaelsitalianbeef.com/ I'm sure others here can enlighten you one way or the other. Also, Portland has awesome thai food and many, many places to find it. |

are you travelling solo?? if you want cheap and central, the hostel on hawthorne is a great deal. you'll be on the 14 route 10 minutes to downtown which
runs pretty frequently (every 12-15 minutes for the most part). if you want a hotel, i would book priceline in either downtown (expensive to park but if you
are on public transit it is moot) or lloyd center both of which are in 'fareless square' i.e. free bus service downtown. you should be able to get a
place for under $100.
DO NOT stay near the airport, 82nd ave (the avenue of roses, pol) or in any of the burbs (gresham, clackamas, beaverton, hillsboro etc). |

shit, if you want chepish, check out the Travelodge on E. Burnside, right up the street from the Jupiter/Doug Fir.Thats where I ended up staying a week or so ago. Was serviceable and I didn't have time to look into other options. Was $65 for a single NS room. Hotel tax pushed it to just under 80. The jupiter did look very cool but I'm sure would be more $ and I just needed a safe and clean place to crash. The travellodge/thriftlodge was not new and was not super sparkling clean but was not sketchy/gross by any means. I also saw an Econo lodge at the south end of downtown (hall and 4th which I would have checked out if I were staying a second night). The thrift lodge is a brisk 15 minute walk over the burnside bridge into downtown and has many buses (or a $5 cab ride). |

JadedElephant wrote:I'm glad faker he-man's influence has lasted so long after his departure..... Teasel, I would go for travellodge. If it's really only 80 bucks a night, it's cheaper than jupiter, but is still only a couple blocks from Le Pigeon (which is apparently some really good food, as in even food snobs like it), and a short walk over the bridge to downtown. Also on the #20 bus line if you don't want to walk, but not in fareless square. Also that Michael's sandwich shop is right there. And just across the bridge is voodoo doughnut. And Union Jack's strip club is within a block or two. And some crazy rock wall climbing gym if you're into that. And a funeral home. And a bar/restaurant called East Burn which has skeeball in the basement. |

First of all, why are you people in my city?
Second of all, leave. Third, I don't know. Fourth, SE is not central. Fifth, I agree with Giz, Timmy and Jaded. |
