sorry to hear that. I don't think I ever got a chance to meet him, but my thoughts are with you.

For what it's worth, my younger cousin was diagnosed with leukemia (don't know which type) when he was 8. He went through chemo, marrow transplant & a while later the doctors basically gave him a death sentence; they told the family he wasn't going to live much longer. After stopping chemotherapy, & trying an alternative therapy that included massive doses of ascorbate (vitamin C) among other things, he went into remission & it never came back. The initial treatments really weakened his immune system, but other than that he was perfectly heathly. I think he's around 21 years old now.
