I heard girloin did a ravenge hack on your buttox.
I've helped people get rid of headaches by placing my hand on their forehead, and backaches by placing my hand on their back. It's a powerful example of love that really works. -- Shelley Long

There are several different types of DJs. Some scratch; some mix; some produce, and often those that produce are writing their own stuff. Most that do write
their own material will usually have sets that are mostly other people's songs with some originals thrown in. Some DJs are notably better than others at
the seemingly simple task of "playing one song after or along with another". Go to some raves and actually pay attention if you don't believe me.

Someone like Girl Talk is pretty fucking talented.
On the other hand, my friend who was a DJ at a local bar would just play whatever the club hits were at the time and get shitfaced. He used to play Juicy by Notorious B.I.G. whenever I'd come in. I appreciated that. Made me feel like a big shot. He got fired for passing out at his post one too many times. Being a DJ is a good way to meet girls if you can't play an instrument. |

Dance music is hard to understand. It's for people who like to dance. you sir, well, I'm pretty sure you don't.
I do share your dislike with people who are just try hards who are all "I'm a DJ." and all they know how to do is count beats and mix 2
records together. They have no taste and can't make any distiction between bad and good. I like house music does not make you cool.
Fuck, is cool even cool anymore?

you can tell a difference between a good dj and a bad dj pretty easily. look at the room you are in. if everyone is dancing, it's a good dj. i separate the
good djs from each other by what music they play though.
but you do have a good point. it's kinda hard to tell the best dj in the world from the 10th best or 30th best. daft punk is probably #1 just because of the crazy show they put on. |

Bubonic Bob wrote: yes, i did. i pondered many years on why the club/dance scene was so popular. i was a young and brash rocker who was quick to point out the eventual demise of dance music. "give it 5 years and this shit will dissappear." well, 5 years went... and now 10... and now 15. as i became the mature young man i am now (31 years old)... i can now give my final conclusion on why dance music has thrived after all these years. after i make this statement, i will leave it alone forever. dance music will not change the world. it will never say anything prophetic or important. it exists solely for questionless individual; the one who wants to dance and fuck then work 40 hours then dance and fuck all over again, like some animalistic routine. it is for those who are afraid to die, afraid to grow old. it requires little thought, just instinct. this is how i've come to cope with dance music. i don't loathe it as i used to, i just see it as something that merely exists in this world. i want my music to punch me in the gut, slice my heart in three, stitch it back together again, straighten my spinal chord, blow my mind, take my legs out from under me and leave me in a mushy pile of thought.... not thoughtlessness. i want to fuck, not because i'm an animal... i want to fuck because i'm human.

Welcome to my world....everyone thinks I write dance music/techno, which I dont. I just write music with a computer.
The line is very fuzzy for dj's. Most of them suck and play other peoples music. I have dj'd several times, but I usually mix prog rock and abstract ambient/whatever, so I piss off the maximum amount of people at once.

I don't get dance music either. But I don't like to dance so that probably has something to do with it. With that in mind, I like Girl Talk. He seems to be doing something that takes talent and I could see myself dancing at his show. |
